Wishing I were here.

Were there one photograph that summed up how I feel about my summer adventures in the following autumn and winter – it might be this one. In the midst of a very long road trip, we stumbled upon this gorgeous field of sunflowers in North Dakota just as the sun was setting. Another summer day’s energy spent, the atmosphere rich with particulate, the setting sun was intensely red. We had just enough time to snap a few photographs and hurry back to camp – in the 20/20 vision of fall, those moments we spent seem so far away and so surreal. I’d like to smell those sunflowers and the summer earth again.

November 6, 2009 - 10:56 am Karen Johnson - I follow you on Twitter and I just had to tell you how much I LOVE this photo. I have family (by marriage) who have sunflower fields and I want to go there next year when they're in bloom to get some photos. This one is GREAT! I love the lighting, but then I love the lighting in all your photos!
